This charcoal-grilled steakhouse, which opened in 1967, has spent more than ten years among the top five most expensive restaurants. Obviously awarded a Michelin star. Its presence solidifies Tokyo’s position as the city with the greatest concentration of well-known—and expensive—restaurants. Situated at the end of a lengthy hallway in the basement of an office building, the restaurant has only 22 seats. It is well-known for providing the best heirloom Tajima beef in the world. For the specially chosen Tajima beef recipes, only pure-bred breeds produced under specific conditions are used.

The meat is merely seasoned with salt and pepper by the chefs before it is skewered and cooked over Kishu Binchotan charcoal in a kiln. Among the other well-liked dishes offered here is a 5-kilogram portion of smoked salmon, which requires a week to prepare. There are more than 200 wine labels to choose from, most of which are from the French regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, to go with the dinner. The cost of a supper is approximately $550 per person.
