3. Masa, New York City:
This 2004-opened Japanese “omakase,” or no-menu, restaurant serves sushi and is housed in Manhattan, New York’s Time Warner Center. It’s not just an eatery; it’s also an occasion and an experience.
Bookings are accepted three weeks in advance, and chef Masayoshi Takayama curates the menu and suggests a laid-back dine-out experience for up to 26 customers.
Although Masa was born and bred in Japan, he first had his own upscale eatery in Los Angeles before moving to New York.
Masa’s love with food has always been ingrained in his life, starting from his early days of riding his bicycle to deliver fresh sashimi to neighbors to his high school years of preparing and grilling numerous fish courses for weddings and other celebrations.
His restaurant serves a variety of freshly prepared meals right out of the kitchen to patrons. Imagine sushi, Omi beef, and truffles that are flown in from Japan. Dinner should take two hours. Meals start at $750 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. For three Michelin stars, that is!
